Category Showing Images Only

Hello and thanks for looking at my topic.

As of now I am trying to format my portfolio page. What I want it to look like is only displaying the thumbnails of everything I post in the category portfolio. Then when you go to the single page for the category it will display the rest of the content of my post, which would be the name of it/url/blah blah blah. So basically when I post something to that category I want to input all of the information needed for the single page, but on the category page only the thumbnail is displayed with a link to the rest of the post. Sorry for the long winded question and thanks for looking!
