Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Category re-order not showing on frontend

The default setting for WooCommerce product category listing is to order them however you entered them. I want to change the “default” category order, I login in wp-admin, click “Product”, then click ” Categories”, and drag and drop category listing tab. This works well and the categories display in the order I changed them in the backend, but at front-end, categories on-page still stay the same order. I can not delete all categories and re-create them in order to change their order.

In my case I have a parent ‘Artwork’ with artist names (re-ordered to the top of the sub category list) and art mediums as sub categories to Artwork. When the products display on the frontend in the shop some products still display the art medium and not the artist name.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I took a look at your site and on the menu, it looks like you’ve got these arranged properly now. Were you able to resolve it or find a workaround? Or perhaps I was looking at the wrong list?

Hi @m155y5 unfortunately not. I have artist names displaying as products in my WooCommerce products. However, the categories always automatically get sorted, leaving the first category alphabetically defined as the product in the single product page, even after re-arranging the categories. I always want to display the artist name.

Thanks for the clarification @brinkcor. I think I’m still not totally following, however. When I look at the categories on your shop, here’s what I see: https://cld.wthms.co/LiOoRa

Is this where things are not appearing as you would like? Or is it elsewhere on the site?

If you could maybe post a description of what you’re visualizing this to look like and also maybe share a screenshot of your categories (from the admin side), that might help me come up with some ideas for you. 🙂

Hi, this matter sorted with Automattic, thank you.
