• This problem has recently developed which is that posts within a category do not load on the archive category pages. For example, there is a category widget on the single post pages. When you click any of the category links, the page loads displaying the category name, but none of the posts within that category load, the page is blank. If you refresh the page is loads slightly differently without the page (category) title.

I’ve noticed that “/category/” is not in the URL.

I’ve recently updated WP and the theme. I’ve resaved permalinks, I’ve deactivated all plugins, to no avail. There is no cache plugin being used.

I’ve used the Health Check plugin, and reverting to a WordPress theme and with all plugins disabled, then when you click on any category link it takes you to the home page, and “/category/” appears in the URL. So different but still a problem with the Category links.

I had the same problem with the Post Author link on every post, so I’ve now disabled that.

Enabling SCRIPT_DEBUG didn’t solve the problem.

    Chrome reports these faults:

177[Intervention] Unable to preventDefault inside passive event listener due to target being treated as passive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The theme is Elision by Quode, but they won’t give me support unless I pay. I’m happy to pay, if I know for sure that the problem is caused by the theme.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

try this install health check plugin which can be used in troubleshooting mode to deactivate all plugins and theme  might help narrow down the source of the issue  https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/

if the issue does NOT happen using a (WordPress default) theme like twenty twenty then it is likely related to your Elison theme.

Hi Lisa, I’ve tried the Health Check plugin and while the problem changed slightly, it’s was still there when using a different WP default theme. The change was that the Category links took me to the home page instead of taking me to a blank Category page, but essentially the same issue.

do you have a staging site environment available in your hosting plan for more testing? if not, you could try setting up a copy of your site in localwp.com (you might need All in one migrate plugin)

maybe try to reinstall WordPress files (DO NOT OVERWRITE WP-Content directory or WP-CONFIG)

Hi Lisa, I can set up a staging site. Maybe that’s the best way forward. Thanks.
