Category page videos look off after latest update
-
After the latest update, when you look at a category page (i.e., website address/category/category name), the embedded videos look off. Even the videos you link (but do not want to embed) get expanded to an irregular size.
-
can you share a link where I could see this happening @androgenicalopecia ?
Hi I try to avoid sharing my site, but I disabled the plugin and everything went back to normal. So I assumed its the plugin. If you get no other complaints, maybe some other issue! Thanks.
FYI — I never used the YouTube API.

well, there was a (very) minor change in the LYTE CSS, but that was added to make sure it only applied to LYTE and not other divs (nodes) really. does the problem go away when installing the old version (download from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wp-youtube-lyte.1.7.19.zip ) instead of 1.7.20?
I reactivated the plugin, but this time even the regular homepage videos were deformed. So deactivated again.
I have only done plugin updates from within the site via a single click in WordPress. Your above recommendation means I need to download the Zip folder, extract files, and then upload files to server via FTP?

No; go to Plugins -> Add New -> Upload instead and click “browse”, select the zip and then click “install”. You’ll be shown a confirmation page asking if you want to overwrite the installed version LYTE, confirm and you should be back to 1.7.19 🙂
Thanks, this worked! I was reluctant to do it via any file downloads to my computer, so delayed a bit.
Only annoying thing is that now I have the permanent red circle reminder in WordPress that this plugin needs to be updated to the newest version!
I sent you a Twitter message with my site URL link FYI.

OK, so by downgrading back to 1.7.19 the problem disappeared? If so it would be interesting to see how 1.7.20 breaks things on a staging site if you have that?
I updated the YouTube Lyte plugin on a second less important site with a different theme, and the same problem happened. I sent you the link to that site (on Twitter private message) so you can scroll down and see what is happening to the videos. They look larger, and even the ones that are externally linked expand by default. And the words <target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”> show up above the videos.

Sure, OK to send it in a twitter DM 🙂
Yes I sent you the first link yesterday, and this one with live staging site earlier today. Check your Twitter please!
OK, so in the 2nd site some video’s seem OK while others are not, so the first question is why some behave differently. Were all video’s added the same way? How did you add them?
— The ones I paste via a direct YouTube video URL link paste are ok (and are meant to show like embedded videos).
— The ones I add as an outbound link (e.g., when I write “see this video about cheese” that you click to get to the video in a new tab) are the ones with issues.
All issues disappear if I revert to last version of plugin.

OK, so LYTE is too eager … let me see if I can reproduce that on my own site(s) for starters.
no, a quick test shows nothing unusual;
might you have linebreaks in the HTML that has the link to youtube? can you copy-paste the HTML (as seen the 2nd screenshot above) in a pastebin.com paste and share the URL here or via Twitter DM?
