    Is it possible to have just a list of categories on the page and then display just the businesses with the category that a visitor clicks on?

    Example:

    • Category 1
    • Category 2
    • Category 3

    I don’t want all the business to show up right away just an actual plain list of the categories.

    Sorry, no, not really. The closest is the Widget Pack comes with a category widget which can be placed in the theme’s sidebar or used as a shortcode on the page.
