Category Images show in archives?

Hello,

In my posts that appear on my front page i have a picture and embedded soundcloud song, when i search by category in it and the results come up containing that original post, there is no picture or embedded soundcloud until i choose the post from the search. Is there a way to change this so in the search for categories the actual post appears instead of just the description in it?

Also, for posts on the main front page is there a way i can cut descriptions short and put a read more link or something go to the individual post so it continues there and doesnt take up so much room on the front page?

Im new to wordpress and don’t know coding so bare with me, hah.
