# Category icons?

 * Hey, is it possible that a hack could be written to allow category icons, sort
   of like the ones you see on Geek Log, PHP-Nuke, etc. I’ve tried to make it work,
   but haven’t had any success. I don’t know how hard it would be to make a hack
   for this because of the multiple-categories per entry, but if it could be done,
   that would be great! Thanks!

 * Do you actually need multiple categories? Because if you don’t, you might be 
   best off installing an earlier version of WordPress – or b2, if you can’t get
   hold of one – where you can do it very simply with the methods you already tried
   on the other thread. I think Laughing Lizard had a zip of 0.72 for download from
   his site.

 * Susubh: the original question was ‘how do I get category icons in WordPress’.
   It turned out to be impossible as things stand, so now he is requesting a hack

 * it’s simple without hacking so much..
    prepare some image files like: general.
   gif – internet.gif ..and so on for each category.. put them wherever you want,
   and do something like that in your template <pre> <img src=”<?php the_category(”);?&
   gt.gif” alt=”<?php the_category(”); ?&gt”&gt </pre> and you’ve done it…

 * SORRY I BROKE SOMETHING IN THE PREVIOUS POST.. this is the right one…
    it’s simple
   without hacking so much.. prepare some image files like: general.gif – internet.
   gif ..and so on for each category.. put them wherever you want, and do something
   like that in your template <pre> <img src=”<?php the_category(”); ?>.gif” alt
   =”<?php the_category(”); ?>”> </pre> and you’ve done it…

 * Yeah, but as has already been pointed out on the other thread, you can’t create
   a link to all posts in a category using that method. And you’d need ‘,’ in those
   parameters in any case.

   written a hack for this.
