category dropdown widget 404 error

    hi folks,

    when choosing a category in the dropdown of the category widget on my page, i get a 404 error. also, the url shows http://mysite.com/category/ – and does not add the category name at the end. I can get to categories by clicking the cat link in the post, but the dropdown is not working.

    anyone have a similar problem or any clues? at first i thought it might be a permalink issue, but it’s set to one of the defaults (Month and name).

    also, just noticed that if i set the widget to show links instead of a dropdown, the links work correctly and display the category archive.

    looks like just the dropdown is broken for some reason. anyone else experiencing this?
