I’ve installed Event Manager on a client site. Works great.

The general events search and list page is:
    http://www.site.com/events

We have categories set up so that there is, for example, a page that lists events for just healthcare professionals:
    http://www.site.com/events/categories/health-care-professionals/

Now they want a different special healthcare professionals page that lists other resources and content AS WELL AS a list of events. Soooo, on that healthcare professionals page, I used the shortcode:
    [events_list category=”55″]
I’ve checked and doublechecked on the backend Event Categories section that “55” is indeed the right ID, and not the number of events in that category.

However, the list that is embedded on that page displays the full list of events, NOT just the healthcare events. What am I doing wrong? I’m about to pull out my hair. 🙁

yes, that is correct and this works on our test sites; about the event category id, did you click on the Screen Options located in the top right corner then ticked on ID > clicked at Events > Event Categories ? also, what is your current EM version?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the ID screen option is ticked.
Installed is Version 5.5.3.1 of Events Manager and the latest version of WP.

Here’s a screenshot of the categories:

As you can see, for health care professionals there should only be 11 events and the id is 55.
Here’s a screenshot of the shortcode used on a test page: http://jmwstaging.com/ccr-emshortcode.jpg
Sadly, when I look at the test page, all the events show up, not just the 11 for healthcare professionals.

On other pages, the shortcode works fine on it’s own and with other attributes. For example, we have a live page just for Australia, and this works fine:
    [events_list limit=”50″ country=”Australia”]

It is on my client’s live site so I can’t turn off all the other plugins to see if there’s an issue with the other plugins. Any other areas I might look to troubleshoot?

Never mind, it’s now working! Sorry, I’m an idiot. I was logged in with one of my client accounts and they work in Visual, but I work in text. When I was creating that screenshot for you, I noticed the shortcode was in a different color and I simply opened up the text window, and voila, there were stupid span tags inside the shortcode!!

I wish I’d thought to do that days ago … I’d have more hair. The dangers of working late at night at less than full brain capacity. In any case, thanks for responding! 🙂
