I am building a store and want to set it up so that the main shop page shows categories only. Then clicking on the categories will take to that specific product category page.

Created a template for the shop page and using woolentor changed the setting to use that template as the product shop page template. But when I click each category, it now just loops back to the same page template.

Is there a way to set it so that the main shop page stays using the template, but clicking on each category goes to that product category page?

    Thank you

We have read your message thoroughly and checked the page you shared.

You can set separate templates for the archive or category page from here:

Thank you and sorry for the delay. I tried your suggestion and have problems still. Heres what I did/am trying to do:

    – Have the main shop page display categories. ie. tshirts, shirts, pants, etc.
    – clicking on each category goes to the default woocommerce category page for that item.

I created a template for the categories and set that under “product shop page” template. When i click on one of the categories, for example “shorts”, it goes to the url sitename.com/product-category/shorts/ but keeps the same template as the categories.

What I want it to do is show the products under that category.

Hope this makes sense and thanks for the help.

    Hello @lordbodom

Thank you very much for your response.

    It’s alright, no problem 🙂

We think the template has not been built properly earlier. That’s why you have been facing this issue since then. Don’t worry, we have made a video for you. Hopefully, it will help you understand.
