Support » Fixing WordPress » Silo structure: Category and Page have the same slug

  • Hi there,
    I’m studying silo structure and i have a problem.
    I had created 2 url below with the same slug:
    1: mydomain.com/abc/key-word/ => this is a page
    2: mydomain.com/abc/key-word/ => this is a category

    But when i access the link below, WordPress has chosen to display the category. I want it to automatically display the page how to do it.

    You can check the demo here:
    [ redundant link removed ] => this is a post under the category
    But when I visit [ redundant link removed ] it appears as a page.

    Thank you

  • One of them has to have a different URL. If you want that to be the URL for the page then the category URL needs to be something else. 2 things can’t have the same URL, simple as that.

    Admin has modified my post to remove demo link. I will explain by demo below:
    You can check the demo here:
    www[.]thankyourskin.com/best-sunscreen-for-sensitive-skin/ => this is a post under the category Sunscreens. Suncreens must be a category, right?
    But when I visit www[.]thankyourskin.com/reviews/best-sunscreens/ it appears as a page. You can viewsource to check.

    I can see that it’s a page. What I’m telling you is that you can’t have a page with the same URL as a category or one of them won’t appear. One of the needs to be different. The simplest option is to put the category base back in so that the category is at http://www.thankyourskin.com/category/reviews/best-sunscreens/
