    Good day,

It seems to be a good plugin, although it does not seem to work for me, but better than that the response from the authors which is really quick.

What I am trying to do is to give access to certain categories using roles, so that a specific role members can view only a specific category with all posts in it, this is for them to view category’s posts only with no editing.
When I try to add categories it shows list that is not in my category list, but this list which appears is taken from “Contact Style” plugin which is an addition to “Contact form 7”.
Is there anyway to fix this? Is there anyway to make it work as I need.

On the other hand, I will need also to have multi-menu, for example each menu (or items) are visible to a specific role, other menu items will show to another role.

Would you kindly help with these?

    Thanks a lot.

If the “Contact Style” plugin adds another taxonomy also called Categories, you should be able to see 2 “Categories” in the condition type dropdown. Can you confirm this?

When you restrict access to posts in a category, the posts will still be visible in archives, widgets, custom lists etc. but unauthorized users will not be able to access the content when clicking on the link.

To hide navigation menu items, you can go to Appearance -> Menus and then select the Access Level a user must have to be able to see a specific menu item.

    Hi Joachim,

Thanks a lot for your reply, I wanted to ensure that everything is going well before replying to you.

I am not sure why I could not see the 2 categories just after the plugin was installed, but now they do appear both.

For the menu, I did not know that is supports menus, but it is. I used another plugin to control the menu permissions, but I seem remove the other plugin and keep “Restrict User Access”.

One more thing if you could help in this, I tried using another plugin for the whole menu access, it’s at https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-menu-by-worldwideweb-solution/, in simple words, I can create many menus then assign each one to any role from a selection of the roles available. The result is that a menu is showing to a specific role(s) as a complete menu. This plugin in did not save the selection.

Is it possible to add this feature to your plugin “Restrict User Access”?

    Thanks and best regards,

If you want to hide nav menu items for specific user roles, I can recommend this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/nav-menu-roles/

Restrict User Access already supports hiding menu items, but instead of doing it per user role, it is done per access level (as created in the plugin).

When editing menus, you should see something like this: https://imgur.com/a/N9WYd

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the screenshot, but I already have used it in menus. I also used nav menu roles, but the other one I referred is a different one, it controls the whole menu, not items, the way it works is that another menu is created, them both menus are assigned to the same location, but they show based on role selections.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I will mark this topic as resolved now, even if we continue discussion.
