# Category – 404 error

 * Installed WP locally (installed on a webserver too, same error), I did not made
   any modifications yet (everything is on default, no plugins, latest WP version).
   When I am clicking on one of the categories (for example uncategorized) it gives
   me a 404 error.
 * WP install directory: [http://localhost/wp/](http://localhost/wp/)
    uncategorized
   category “filter”: [http://localhost/wp/category/uncategorized/](http://localhost/wp/category/uncategorized/)
   tried [http://localhost/wp/?cat=1](http://localhost/wp/?cat=1) still not working,
   the same 404 error.
 * Can anybody help me to troubleshoot this problem? I am really need to use this
   feature! Thank you
