    Hi!

    After update to 1.2.8:

the post count show 1 (one) on all categories (even though there are actually many posts in each category). For example the categories widget now show:

    Category1 (1)
    Category2 (1)
    Category3 (1)

Before the update I had something like:

    Category1 (12)
    Category2 (20)
    Category3 (7)

Note: it seems as my posts still have the correct categories attached, but it is the counter that is no longer working. Both in the Categories widget and in the categories list in the backend.

Also all categories that do not have posts have disappeared. Please note the “24 items” count at the bottom, but only 3 category items visible in the list.

@edurix and @henkemail For you guys the category count work, right? If yes @uliateet could you check if there is any restriction which causes the issue. Because as I can see it for now, it works like expected.

    Hello,
I don’t use a category count in the frontend, but in the backend it works correct!

    Hi.
I have no restrictions set up.
in the backend 1 category works, count is correct, and it shows up in the front end.
all other categories shows 0. But if i press the category in the backend it will display the posts under the category.

Hi guys, I actually stayed with the 1.2.11 version since it worked for me (both tags and categories). Maybe I’ll try the new version on a test server, but unfortunately I don’t have the time for this right now. I’ll let you know later. Thanks,

    Hi,
running same configuration with WP 4.7 and UAM 1.2.14.
And I have the same problem.
Category count is 0, but there exist one ore more posts with that category.

    What I can see is:
If category itself is not restricted to a role, but posts within the category are restricted to roles, category shows 0.
If category is restricted to a role and the posts are restricted to same role, category count is right.
If category role and posts roles are not the same, post count shows 1 or another number which is not correct.
To solve the problems with not shown posts in menu I deactivated “hide empty categories” in settings, but now I have to watch that manually.

With tags it seems to be similar, but I had not yet time to analyze to be sure.

I have removed all groups and therefore i have no restriction on anything.
Removing the hide empty categories, will make the categories appear in the front end, but they will be shown with count (0).
only option i have found to get the categories to work is to disable UAM, but as i need to setup restriktions on some of my posts and categories, this is not really an option.

Do you have some other plugins active? Because it seems to work for some users. Are you using the lastet version?

Hi, I finally made the update from 1.2.11 to 1.2.14 and both category and tag count seem to show correctly in my installation.

Stange, do you have any of the above plugins?
cause i can’t get the count to work.
only thing that have worked is to deactivate UAM.

Just tried deactivating all other plugins.
    still the same result.

    Hi @uliateet

I do not use any of the plugins on your list. (though I use a whole bunch of other plugins).

I think that it’s really difficult to guess the reason why the count does not work for you. If I were you I would actually consider building your site again from scratch (on a test domain or localhost). This can also be a good way of cleaning your site, getting rid of “left overs” in the database from previously (uninstalled) plugins etc.

    • setup a clean WordPress
    • install and configure the UAM plugin
    • import content (exported from original site)
    • install your theme
    • install plugins, one by one, verifying the tags and categories after each plugin

    Good luck,

Hey sounds really strange. Currently I have no idea what could cause the issue… It would be great, if you feel able to, if you could have some investigations at your setup and give me some feedback, if you are able to find something out.

Your issue isn’t forgotten, but currently I’m working on the new version which takes all my time. Because of the lack of possibilities related to the overview of the WordPress support area for plugin authors I ask you to recreate your issue here: https://github.com/GM-Alex/user-access-manager/issues So I can fix it for the next release. Please resolve the issue here if you recreated the issue on GitHub and post the link to the new issue. Thank you very much.
