Support » Fixing WordPress » Categories page, widget and custom menu

I have the twenty eleven theme. This is a new build, so there aren’t any posts yet. I made up a list of categories, including subcategories, on the categories page. So far so good. But the categories widget still only registers “uncategories” How to do get it to pick up all the categories from my categories page, which is saved.

I also wanted to build a custom menu from this categories page to serve as a nav bar. When I exported the categories to the menu page via the add to menu button on that page, all the categories were added as parents, when, in fact, a number of them are set up as children (subcategories) on the categories page. In other words, most of my main menu items are supposed to be drop-down menus. How do I Fix that? Does 2011 support that kind of nav bar/menu? If the answer to the last is NO, can you recommend a theme that does, for a news/op-ed kind of site?
