Categories do not appear on front page

    I am new to wordpress. I added 5 categories to the list but only uncategorized apears on the front page. I tried checking the box’s to the left of the names but nothing happens. Go to front page and only have uncategories under categories heading. There is no box next to the uncategorie section.
    What am I doing wrong. I have read the instructions and they supposed to be there.

    The categories don’t appear on your homepage until you have written at least one post in each category. Write a post called ‘Test’ or so and save this one in all cats and you will see that all cats appear on your homepage.

    Thanks do77. It turns out that when I tried to post to the categories I found the Add New Post page that had all the categories on the lower left and non of the box’s had been check. Did this and they appeared.
    Problem solved.
