Categories Box Not Showing on Dashboard

    Hello. I can’t edit the categories for this plugin because the box isn’t showing on the dashboard as described in the readme.txt file. I’ve read somewhere this may be because of a conflict with this plugin and another. My question is, where are the categories stored? Are they as folders in the file system, or a mysql table? I ask because rather than troubleshooting further it may just be easier for me to edit the categories manually, for example through phpmyadmin if they’re in the mysql database, but I can’t seem to see them there. How and where are the categories stored?

    Hi earthbornhealing,

    The categories for this plugin are under Directory->Categories. They are indeed present and editable from the Admin dashboard of WordPress.

    The instructions you referenced in the readme.txt at the very bottom are outdated, and my apologies for having them in there. I will remove them for the next release.

    To view and edit categories for BD, you should do that from the Admin dashboard as mentioned above. These categories are specific to BD and won’t reflect in your WP post categories used by the blog. You shouldn’t have to access the database for this function–that’s way too much work. We’d never make you do that.

    I hope you reconsider your rating in light of this information.

    Under Directory there is NO option for categories. I have checked and double checked. The option is simply NOT THERE for me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin several times and the option to edit catagories is simply not available.

    OK. Let’s dig into this deeper. That should not be happening.

    Can you post a screenshot of what you do see on the admin section under Directory? Something must be showing up there, the question is what.

    What version of BD are you running?
    What version of WordPress?

    When I look at the source code that builds the directory tab menu on the left hand side of the screen, there is no option to display a link to a categories.

    what is the slug of the category editor?

    eg. admin.php?page=slug

    This is the URL you want:

    wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=wpbdm-category&post_type=wpbdp_listing

    However, from that screenshot, it seems that an entire piece of BD isn’t showing up. You should see:

    Directory
    AND
    Directory Admin

    The former is where the categories are edited and managed. Try the plugin conflict article above. I wonder if your other plugins are interfering with the display somehow.
