I saw what I wanted in the advanced search so I’ll be revising my question… Is there an “advance search” shortcode.. I want this to show up on my site first so the users can select from the dropdown for the categories.

    Thanks

    Hi MegaToonTV,

We don’t have a shortcode for that right now, but it’s on the list to do for the next major release.

Oh another similar question.. how to display the category via php

The “wpbdp_get_form_field()” does not seem to make it work.

    Thanks

    Hi MegaToonTv,

Have you tried the suggestions in this article here?

    http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/advanced-customization-of-the-list-and-detail-views-of-bd/

That explains how to access the fields individually.

    Hi,

I tried that one but the result it gives me just category ID. When I use it together with the “get_category()” it just gives me blank result.

Can you post the code you are using (full page)?

Also, which page are you customizing?

Is the “categories drop down” capability now added to the new version of the plugin?
I have updated the plugin to the latest version but I can’t find anything on the admin side related to that.

If it’s not included in the plugin yet, is it possible to give me some instructions to change the core files or hack the plugin for now until it s officially added?

    Thank You

    HI phoenixobia,

Depends on what you mean by “categories drop down” capability. 🙂

We have the enhanced category module, which gives you the ability to show parent, then child on the search and submit listing form. Is that what you’re looking for here?

It’s a free module that you get when signing up for our free email course on building a business directory (which you can see at the lower right of our site when you visit: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com)

It’s in the sign up email.

Well I’m talking about that option we have in the Directory admin under the listings tab.
When “Show listings under categories on main page?” is checked, it displays the list of categories on the main page.

I have a lot of categories and I would like to have it as a drop down to save space.

I just signed up for your email courses by the way.

Is that something I can do with the free module you are talking about?

    Thanks for the info

Yes, actually, that’s possible with it as well. 🙂

Thanks for the info and lessons.
I got your “Categories” plugin but I still can’t seem to make the categories shown as a drop down on the mail Directory page.

    Could you please help?

    Thanks

    Hi phoenixobia,

First, did you find the documentation about it here?
    http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/docs/#premium-categories

There are some settings you need to turn on to get the drop-down cascading to happen (namely, changing the mode to Parent Only). Did you do that?
