    Hello all,

I used to be a WordPress developer back in 2011 and since moved over to Drupal development for work.

Well, I’ve been just offered a dev job that primarily does WP at another company — I was just wondering if there are major/obvious changes that would be good to review when jumping back in? Or any other good tutorial sites that have popped up in the last 4 years?

    Thanks heaps for any help.

Dissecting the Twenty Sixteen theme should give an overview of current practices

I like the new additions they are making.. Keep up the good work!

    Hello Skye,

Well WordPress did evovle, like Andrew said dissecting Twenty Sixteen is a good starting point.

To my opinion, here are some major improvements:

    • it’s easier than ever to filter wordpress main loop/query
    • you can create custom post and page templates with a simple twist – minmal php code required
    • taxonomies are very well implemented, which makes a large room for custom things
    • some plugins are so powerful they expand the scope of wordpress in many ways, with no loss on the performance side (for the good ones)
