[resolved] Catch Box not IE8 and IE9 compatible? (16 posts)

    I've noticed on http://www.sabinahaas.at/ that the styles are not correctly loading in IE8 and IE9. Did I do something wrong? Or is it the theme's fault? Any tricks to get it right?

    Thanks a lot for help,

    Michael

    Allright, I just noticed that the site loads correctly if I turn off compatibility mode in IE. Then I included the tag <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9"> into the header and now it seems to work. But isn't the theme supposed to do this by itself?

    Greets,

    Michael

    A few more things on this issue: The theme itself seems to be compatible, but not so if used with a child theme, even if this is empty. I'm still a bit lost, but this is what I found out so far. Anyone else with this experience?

    Moreover, above trick with META tags only works for IE9, not for IE8 (even if I target it specifically at IE8).

    Regards,

    Michael

    I use Catch Box with a child theme. On Internet Explorer 8 & 9, footer widgets appear squeezed together directly under the right sidebar widgets instead of the correct placement across the bottom of the page. The "site generator line" containing the copyright powered by statements is also squeezed under that footer widget, leaving lots of empty space to the left.

    The website displays correctly on other devices and browsers.

    Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?
    Thanks, Billie (the BorderExplorer)

    Billie -- for future reference, it's really better to start a new thread than to tack on to an old one.

    It looks like you have some mark-up errors on your page -- so start by Validating and clearing those up. They often cause browser inconsistencies and layout problems.

    Please post your own topic. Your problem - despite any similarity in symptoms - is likely to be completely different.

    Hi Michael,

    If you want to check if you have done anything wrong or it's the theme fault. You can always test with our demo site http://catchthemes.com/demo/catchbox/

    Sakin

    Did you do what I suggested? Validating finds a bunch of errors:

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.linuxeando.org%2Fwo%2Fwordpress%2F%3Fp%3D8&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

    See this:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Validating_a_Website

    Excuse my ignorance and my lack of English, but do not understand what to do with the errors showing?, Means I should delete that lines with errors?
    What does not work in IE is the menu with a different color and the aforementioned problem.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
    Bye

    Sakin, your theme is wonderful! I found several mistakes I made when adding widgets, and now my website displays properly on Internet Explorer.

    Thanks to everyone for the help.

    Hello I have the same compatibility issues on my site. Images don;t seem to follow the HTML when viewed on IE8. Can you please advise?

    Thanks

    @dibeen: Did you check your site if you have done any custom. First check with this demo url: http://catchthemes.com/demo/catchbox/

    If there is still problem then send me your site URL of the issue page.

    @Sakin - I've ran it through the validator site and that didn't pick anything up and so I've now added this code:

    function rw_ie9() {
    echo '<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="EmulateIE=9">';
    }

    add_action('wp_head', 'rw_ie9');
    ?>

    The page in question is here.

    Thanks
