• Forgive me if I’m posting in the wrong category, but I’m not really sure how to categorize this issue. I know there are some existing threads out there regarding this topic, but they all go on some tangents and none of the ideas seem to have helped me get rid of this nuisance.

    The other day I noticed a link in my blogroll to “Casino Online” -> http://www.casinoofthekings.com/

    Disturbed by this, I changed my password and deleted the link. The truly frustrating part is that it immediately re-appears. I have tried everything that I can think of to help rectify this issue to no avail. I will continue trying, but I was hoping that someone might have some ideas as to how I might fix this. Thanks!

    Let me know if you need any more info.

  • Deactivate all plugins, switch to the default theme and then delete the link. Then start re-activating plugins and the theme one by one – checking for the reappearance of this link after each change.

    Thanks for the help. I will spend some time getting everything cleaned up so I can rid my site of the infiltration fully. Have a good day!

    I am still going to thoroughly investigate my site, but it seems I have resolved the issue. I’m not sure why though, because the change I made doesn’t seem like it would solve the issue.

    The first file I checked was my .htaccess and I noticed what looked like unnecessary code at the beginning of the file. Since I removed this the link has not returned. I will not assume this is the only problem, but like previously stated I do feel that I have resolved my primary issue, which is having the link on my page.

    Here is the code which I removed, something that seems pretty standard using Apache as far as I can tell.

    start—————>
    IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti*

    <Limit GET POST>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    allow from all
    </Limit>
    <Limit PUT DELETE>
    order deny,allow
    deny from all
    </Limit>
    AuthName austinbeam.com

    <——————–end

    My understanding is that the first line hides the files noted from the index, and the next block is an IP white/blacklist. Let me know if that is correct or not and if I am leaving anything out.

    Any advice or input concerning this code will be greatly appreciated:

    Thanks again for the help!
