I’ve made a few changes and basically the colors are what I want and the layout is *almost* as I want in Firefox.
PROBLEM: My background color suddenly started ending prematurely! It ends at the bottom of the menu and I can’t figure out why!!!
    Anyone got any ideas?

Now my background is back – but only because my menu has slid under my content. Perhaps I’ve been staring at this too long….

Thanks Joni! I’ve been following the recommended repairs, but to no avail. So far my menu continues to sit below the content.

    I even took a nap!

I had this same problem and after spending about 8 hours searching here and google for the solution, I gave up and dropped “content” and “menu” into a table and have stopped worrying about using pure css for my layout….

i believe the simplest way to accomplish what you want is a fake column, where the different background for the column is actually a part of a single background image for the whole #rap.
