Care to add ResearchGate and TikTok social media icons?

Hello guys,

I was reading this guide to social media icons in Twenty Twenty WordPress theme which I am using on my website:

Twenty Twenty

It seems that Twenty Twenty doesn’t have icons for ResearchGate and TikTok social media. I have the profiles on those social networks linked up on my website and would like to have icons of those two social networks displayed as well.

I am not a graphic designer, but could someone somehow add the icons for ResearchGate and TikTok so that it’s available in the Twenty Twenty theme?

Hi, a ticket would need to be created on Trac for this to be implemented into the theme. But in that case, it would probably take a few months to happen.

If you know anything about code, I helped somebody else with similar awhile ago here:

You would have to get your own transparent PNG images for TikTok/ResearchGate and then modify the code accordingly. If you aren’t comfortable with modifying the code, you’d have to find a developer to assist further.

@jarretc where can I find the transparent PNG images where the image is completely free to use, that is I don’t have to credit the author of the image?

That I am not sure of, you’d have to research some sites to find one that is ok with having no attribution required

@jarretc Could you elaborate more on the Trac ticket process? I think I’ll opt in for that route.

Sure, go here to create a new ticket:

https://core.trac.wordpress.org/newticket

Make sure you’re signed into your WordPress.org account. In the Summary input you can do something like

TwentyTwenty: TikTok and ResearchGate Social Icons

Just make sure that it begins with TwentyTwenty:

From there, add your request into the Description text area

Set the Type to enhancement

Set the Component to Bundled Theme

Then click Create Ticket, you shouldn’t have to worry about configuring any of the other options.
