Hi @cmsseni,
I’m afraid that at the moment it is not possible to see customer’s IP address in the abandoned cart list as we try to follow GDPR suggestions and collect only the minimum required personal data that is necessary for abandoned cart recovery.
Could you please also share a user scenario how would you intend to use it?
Thanks,
Nauris
Hi!
I think IP could be usefull for location tracking purposes (country, city), for non registered users/visitors.
Thanks!
Hi @cmsseni, thank you for your answer. Country + State / Region is already available automatically for all abandoned carts if you have enabled WooCommerce Geo location service.
Warm regards
I would find the ip address or state useful on the abandoned carts screen. My other reports, such as statcounter and my whos online plugin use the ip address as an identifier. It is impossible to cross reference the reports with the present information shown.
I do not find the city or postal code that is presently shown in CartBounty useful at all.
Hi @yatgirl
Thanks for reaching out here. I hear your point and I completely understand why this would be useful. However as a product developers we must be very mindful to various rules and regulations. As mentioned above, GDPR does not allow collecting more data than necessary. CartBounty has two reasons for collecting personal data:
- To send abandoned cart reminders
- To improve user experience by remembering user input in the WooCommerce checkout form
It would be quite easy to save customer IP address alongside abandoned cart data, however none of the reasons listed above require us to know customer’s IP address. It is why I’m afraid we will not be able to provide customer IP address in our abandoned cart list at the current situation since we would be putting all of our users in danger of breaching the law.
Best wishes
