[Resolved] Caption isn't actual Attachment Caption?

  • I noticed the code demonstrates $attachments->field( ‘caption’ ) but nothing mentioned about description. I also noticed that the caption box in the metabox does not show the caption I’ve assigned to the attachment itself in the media library. So evidentally this plugin creates an additional caption field specific to the page it’s used on?

Is it possible to retrieve the caption or description from the attachment itself?

Yes, Attachments field data is kept separate from the fields in the Media library on purpose, but you can tell Attachments to use the value from the Media library fields by default. Please see the Fields Reference.

Ah – that makes sense now – maybe the documentation could make it a little clearer?
