[resolved] can't write/edit posts (6 posts)

    Really hoping someone can help me with this. Everything has been fine; upgraded to 2.8.4 a few weeks ago without problems.

    I've been working on a post off and on throughout the day; saving the draft each time I leave it. A couple of hours ago I upgraded some unrelated software, which did a computer restart. I'd forgotten I had my blog open.

    Now, I can't write a post, nor edit a previous one. The one I was working on shows up on my 'drafts' page, but when I click on it all I get is the title. If I try to 'add new' I can type in the 'title' area, but can't even get my cursor to show up in the post body. Also, I always work in 'visual' mode; I've lost all my little buttons up top. Also can't switch over to HTML mode.

    Looking at the blog it looks fine. I can move around the dashboard, edit links, do some other things like that, so it's not totally dead.

    I am not savvy at computers/software stuff at all. I know just enough to maintain, but not to fix problems. I'm at a loss here; don't know if the iTunes update I did caused this or not. The timing is coincidental though.

  2. Start by clearing your cache, cookies and and history in your web browser, and then quit and restart the browser and get into WP and see if it works again.

    I tried your suggestion, and did it twice without any luck. Was really hoping that would fix it. But I do have more information.

    I thought to check another blog, that is basically inactive, though I also updated WordPress on it a few weeks ago. But it has only a couple of old posts, no comments, I'm just not working on it right now.

    It too has the same problem. Could it be some compatibility issue with the iTunes/Safari update I did? I use Firefox, but wanted to do the iTunes update, and the Safari update was required for that too.

    Any other suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

  4. A few more things: Restarted the Mac? Check for Firefox updates under Help?

    In Firefox, sure you "Cleared Recent History" under Tools? And Cookies under Preferences/Privacy?

    Try your site in Safari, too. I doubt the iTunes update broke anything.

    SUCCESS! Thank you so much. I wasn't able to work on it till a few minutes ago, but I had not cleared 'recent history' under Tools, and I don't know if that is what did it or not, but it must have, because now all is back to normal.

    I thank you for your help; it really stresses me when something this big (to me) goes wrong. I appreciate the help. Hope I can pass it on someday.


  6. Good that works.... It's a good idea to clear history when any problems come up. It's a common fix for many browser problems.
