Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Can’t use Yoast on home page using ‘Altitude Pro’ theme

    Hi folks,
I am using Genesis parent theme along with Altitude Pro child theme (https://my.studiopress.com/themes/altitude/). I have Yoast installed, yet I can’t find a way to get the Yoast settings appearing in the WP Dashboard for editing the home page.

Using this theme, the home page consists of customisable widgets, ideal for viewing on smartphones. However, the home page is neither a Post or a Page, which seems to prevent Yoast from displaying its various settings. The home page can be edited in “Appearance > Customise”

Does anyone know how to get around this problem pls?

    Thanks

When the homepage is built outside of a page, the Yoast metabox is not available.

To set the title and description, please go to Admin > SEO > Search Appearance > General (tab) > Homepage (section)

    Hi @amboutwe

In this Homepage SEO section I notice that you can’t freely type into the site title box, but have to select something that has already been created elsewhere, like ‘Site title’ ‘Page’ ‘Separator’ ‘Tagline’:

As the home page isn’t a WP Page on this theme, I assume the ‘Page’ will be blank.

    Thanks for your guidance.

    Hi Toby,

You should be able to enter in whatever custom title you want in that field by clicking on the field and typing in the title. See image for an example: https://pasteboard.co/HZLvt6T.png

Whatever, you enter there is expected to appear as the title for your homepage.

Are you not able to enter in content into that field?

@pcosta88 Sorry for my delay, had a malware issue and had to clean my sites. When I first tried this the SEO Title tabs didn’t seem to be editable, no idea why. Anyway I have since got this working. Thanks for your help.

@amboutwe Thank you for your patience.
