Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Can’t use cyrillic alphabet in emails for my customers

  • Resolved haaflife

I’m taking care of a bilingual woocommerce shop – english and russian – and of course the emails the customers receive when they create an account etc. should be in both languages as well.
However, as soon as I use the cyrillic alphabet in my emails, it’s not shown in the email (if I add the cyrillic text next a piece of english text, the english text diassppears as well).
I think I copied my templates etc. correctly, because I can change the english text in my emails without problems.
My first guess was it is a problem with the encoding, so I added utf-8 to the emails meta information – also no success.

If anyone could point me into the direction of how to add russian text to my emails that would be great
    Thanks in advance

    Hi there!

WooCommerce itself is capable of sending emails with Cyrillic text. Just to confirm there’s no issues in a standard setup, I ran a test on my sandbox site, with the site language set to Russian, and this was the result:

There’s a couple things to check here, and I’d start with the translation plugin first. A conflict test will rule out plugins, or your theme, as causing this issue. You can narrow it down to where the issue is by running a conflict test, and testing the emails as you go. Here’s a guide for that doing conflict tests:
