Can’t upload SVG | WordPress.org

I just upgraded from 2.4.2 and now I can’t upload SVG files. I’ve tried to add the SVG format to the MIME Types but it doesn’t seem to be working. Can you give me a step by step guide on how to add SVG files back?

Hi @itswilder,

It’s not since EML 2.4.2, it’s since WP 4.7.1 (see https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/39550)

To fix it for now add define('ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS', true ); to wp-config.php.

It just doesn’t look secure, so please make sure to move this from wp-config.php when the issue is fixed.

It should be noted there’s a reason these uploads are disallowed. SVG files are extremely hard to sanitize so hackers just LOVE utilizing them in an attack 🙂
