Support » Plugin: Strong Testimonials » Can’t upgrade from 2.40.7

Any ideas of how to move forward? Upgrading from this version to any newer version leaves user-readable HTML code all over the place and ends up quite ugly.

We are actually considering just switching away to some simple divs with like 5-20 lines of CSS. We honestly don’t care if it’s static anymore if we can’t upgrade this plugin.

    Any ideas?

    Hi @nate2,

Thank you for reaching out to us!
Are you by any chance using custom templates for your testimonials views?

    Warmly,
    Mihaela

I have no idea – I’m not in charge of copy. It’s likely.

    No worries, @nate2!
Can you please check if you have a folder named ‘strong-testimonials’ in the theme’s root directory?

    Warmly,
    Mihaela

We have no such folder in either our child theme or the theme it inherits from.

Is there something I can check to see if we are using custom templates (or was that it lol?)

    That was it 😞
Because we cannot say for certain what is causing this we will need a bit more information, I’m sorry.
Would you be willing to please update and send me a screenshot before and one after the update?
    Thank you so much!

I got the screenshots, but this forum doesn’t supply a way to upload them. Do you have a suggestion for how I would do that?

You can paste the screenshot here using a service like Imgur, Pastebin, or Dropbox.
Or send them over using the form on our site’s contact page here.

    Thank you!
Are you only using the lite plugin?

Can you please install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/
After you install and activate the above plugin it has a Troubleshooting mode which allows you to have a vanilla WordPress session, where all plugins are disabled, and a default theme is used, but only for your user – your visitors will still see the normal website.

Go to its troubleshoot mode and activate only ST lite/free and see if the same issue happens with no other plugins and a default theme.

    Please let me know.

I did so and determined that if I use our normal theme, and enable all plugins excluding “Strong Testimonials Pro Templates” then it does not have this formatting issue (though the testimonials don’t look like how we would like).

On the flip side it does happen with Twenty-Twenty-One (not our default theme) with only the “PageBuilder by SiteOrigin” (we use this for layout and it was fine above) the “Strong Testimonials” and the “Strong Testimonials Pro Templates” plugins.

    Thank you!
This seems to be related to Strong Testimonials Pro Templates.
As much as I would love to help you asap, your question is specific to Strong Testimonials Pro and we are not allowed to offer support on these forums for our premium version, as you can see in the guidelines here: https://wordpress.org/support/guidelines/#do-not-post-about-commercial-products 😔
Please send us an email using this form here and we will continue our discussion there.

    Thank you for understanding!
    Looking forward to your email.

    Warmly,
    Mihaela
