I realize Mailpoet no longer supports version 2 and only updates for “security” but this seems to be a big issue. I am between getting my degree and a job so my site and newsletters are running at minimum just to keep presence until I can update site to match new position. So I am not investing my non-income into improvements but would like to keep site operational. I would also like to keep past 100+ newsletters and history. So, I don’t want to loose ver2 or upgrade until I start sending newsletters on a regular basis again. (disclaimer: Microbioligist not webmaster, barely webamateur)

When I ran SG Optimizer “PHP Compatibility” I got this:

    FILE: /home/thepubcl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wysija-newsletters/inc/pear/pear.php

754 | WARNING | Function dl() is deprecated since PHP 5.3
754 | WARNING | Function dl() is deprecated since PHP 5.3
852 | WARNING | Use of deprecated PHP4 style class constructor is not supported since PHP 7.

    ————————————————————————————————–

    ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

    FILE: /home/thepubcl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wysija-newsletters/helpers/bounce.php
    —————————————————————————————–
FOUND 0 ERRORS AND 1 WARNING AFFECTING 1 LINE
    —————————————————————————————–
63 | WARNING | Function dl() is deprecated since PHP 5.3

So, I think I am stuck. Either Mailpoet fixes or I have to delete Mailpoet and loose my newsletters? Anyway, any answers would be appreciated.

    Hello @thepubcl,

I took a look at the lines you mentioned, and it seems they shouldn’t be a problem.
dl() function seems to be either isolated, or not used if not present.

If you don’t use Bounce synchronization from your inbox – it shouldn’t be a problem. Or if you do – consider using a different connection method than POP3.

Some users do successfully use MailPoet 2 with PHP 7.

    I hope that helps.

As i said.. amateur. So I can’t really debate. I don’t think I Bounce, the only thing I had to change was switching who I used to deliver the newsletters (per mailpoet advice) but that was a couple years ago. Other than that, all I know is what the report I copy/pasted above said and that without resolving the issues listed it won’t let me proceed with PHP 7 update.

    Thanks for your time
