# Can’t update settings: api404error

 * Out of the blue, I can’t change my Jetpack settings – when I try to deactivate
   the ‘Enable the jetpack mobile theme’ button, I keep getting this message: ‘Error
   updating settings. Api404Error.

   and found this error message:

 * i managed to resolve this issue via another forum … cf link: [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/404-not-found-error-34/#post-10670768](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/404-not-found-error-34/#post-10670768).
 * it turns out my .htaccess file was corrupted and needed some change.
