Can't Update Categories or Permalink Slugs

    I’m trying to add new categories and when I do, I click the add button to add it and nothing happens. There is no error message.

    I seem to be having trouble with a number of things, including changing my permalink slugs. Again, the update button spins like it’s doing something, but it just hangs there and doesn’t update. I’ve tried doing these updates in Mozilla, Chrome, IE and Safari, and none of them have a different result.

    I read the forums, and it seems like others have had this problem in the past, but it seems like that was a few years ago.

    I’m using the latest version of WP. Thanks!

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
