[resolved] Can't update Blocked, Keymaster, or Visitor roles (6 posts)

User Role Editor version 3.8.1 won't update roles for "Blocked", "Keymaster", or "Visitor" roles. For Blocked and Visitor the settings are forgotten immediately after clicking the save button, and for Keymaster, the settings look like they are remembered but are immediately forgotten once you leave the page.

Add Moderator to the list - settings look like they stick but are forgotten once you leave the page. Ooops - add Participant to the list.. and Spectator..

Wow - this plugin seemed awesome at first, but half of the roles aren't working.. hopefully someone is reading this ;)

Okay last update: after much experimenting, here is a list of roles that aren't working with User Role Editor version 3.8.1:

    • Visitor
    • Spectator
    • Participant
    • Moderator
    • Keymaster
    • Blocked

But the good news is that the other half of the roles are updating/saving just fine ;)

Roles from the list above are not standard WordPress roles. You didn't mention that you created them yourself also.
Please, provide information what plugin those roles belong to? I suppose that such roles could be created by the plugin on the fly every time visitor requires your site page...

Sorry, I didn't create them myself. They're from bbPress, a popular forum plugin for WordPress. The bbPress roles appear in the dropdown menu of your plugin so I assume that they should work, but they don't. If your plugin only supports default WP roles, perhaps they are the only ones that should be displayed in the dropdown menu..? Otherwise it seems like a bug.

URE plugin supports all roles defined for WordPress, standard roles and custom roles created by plugins or by users manually. I meant that some plugin could recreate its roles from zero every time you open the page. In that case there is no sense to modify such role.

On the fresh install of bbPress version 2.2 I see only two roles from it:
    - Forum Moderator;
    - Forum Participant.
And I see modification made to these roles on the persistent base. So I could not repeat your problem. What version of bbPress do you use?

Don't worry about it. Thanks for your responses.
