I just tried clicking the Facebook button on your petition and it seems to be working fine. I didn’t see any notice about the page being protected.

    Thanks Kreg,

What I did in the meantime was to recreate the page with a different address- http://poweroften.us/petition-for-monitor/ and put in a redirect from the page that wasn’t working- http://poweroften.us/petition/ so people who click the link from the email blast I sent out will go go straight to the good page.

Thanks for getting back to me, perhaps when the petition is over I can take the redirect out so you can see what the problem was.

Your plugin is slamming! I have 170 signers in 18 hours, although only 60 are confirmed.

I will certainly rate and donate!

I will send ideas also if you like.

There is a real need for this function. I have tried the “free” petition sites such as change.org, they didn’t do a thing to help me promote, and kept the list of signers that I worked so hard to organize. No such thing as a free lunch.

    Peace,

    Steve W.

It might be that Facebook cached your old page while it was still protected. I think Facebook caches its reading of a page the first time someone tries to share it and then serves up the same result to everyone thereafter instead of re-scraping the page on each share.

You should be able to get Facebook to re-scrape the page by popping the URL into the Facebook debugger.

Thanks for your compliments on the plugin!

Oh, forgot to mention… feel free to send along your ideas. Would be interested in hearing thoughts from someone who has used the free petition sites.

You can post ideas here on the support forum or head over to my contact page to send me email.

It would be nice to have the ability to make fields required. It would be good to require that they enter the email twice with a message if they don’t match; I see several people had typos while entering their email address. I set the column width to “auto” in the css, I think that would be a better default setting.

I set up a custom field for comments. It would be nice for these to be visible in some way.
