Support » Plugin: Mailchimp for WooCommerce » can’t translate with WPML

  • Simple plugin with great support. Unfortunately not the ideal solution for WPML multilingual websites.

@dreamvim sorry you had that come up – but we were under the impression that the WPML was working just fine. Did you reach out to them to make sure you were configuring things correctly? By default the plugin will use Subscribe to our newsletter and it’s most certainly using the translate function of WordPress.

This should work if you give it another attempt. One thing to note is that we’ve been told recently that the slug mc-woocommerce was not correct, but that’s what is currently being used for our translation string domain.

In version 2.3.1 which is coming soon that will be changed to mailchimp-for-woocommerce but again you should be able to translate this string in its current state.

Please feel free to reach back out if you’re having trouble.

@dreamvim did you by chance change the value for this in the admin? I’m seeing how this may have been why the translation function was not working for you.

If you use the default term of Subscribe to our newsletter as your translation string, it will work as you would expect.

Thanks Ryan, in fact I had changed the default setting for that text.

But still have a problem now…

Because I have a Multilingual store, I’d like to subscribe my users in different “groups” (not “audiences”), based on the website language when they subscribe, but I don’t think this is possible now.

Maybe I’ll check the plugin in the future.
For now, I’ll increase to 3-star for your kindness and support, but the plugin is still not a valuable solution for my needs.

@dreamvim The plugin does not support sending customers to multiple lists, because the way Mailchimp’s ecosystem works is that a store can only have a single list for e-comm data. It’s actually never been supported because they feel as if you can accomplish the same things with segmenting tools on a single list.

That being said, we’ve got a tweak coming up in version 2.3.1 which should give you the user’s locale which can be used as a filter in Mailchimp for various tasks. When that gets released, we’ll be sure to send an update here so you know when it’s ready. It’s currently getting ready for QA and should be out soon enough.

    Thanks again for your review.
