Support » Theme: Bistro » Can’t stop slider text from sliding

  • Hi all
    Thank you for a great theme. One bug I’ve got is that I can’t stop the slider text from sliding. If I click the “Stop the Text Slider?” option in the “Header Area” it doesn’t do anything. I’ve also tried adding
    ‘.text-slider {
    animation: none;
    to the Custom CSS but that hasn’t worked.
    Please can you tell me if there is something else I can try, or something that I’ve done wrong?

  • Hello @granville,

    I have just tried to replicate yuor issue on my localhost and I got the same result, that checkbox doesn’t work.

    It looks like a bug, I have already reported that issue, thank you for pointing it out.

    Kind Regards, Roman.

    Hi Roman
    Thanks for replying previously. I have updated the latest theme but it still isn’t working. Can you tell me if they are still working on a fix, or if I need to do something else?

    Thank you

    Hi @granville

    We’re not updating Bistro because it’s a child theme and people might have added custom code to it. All you need to do is open up the functions.php file for Bistro and delete line 90, where it says require get_stylesheet_directory() . "/inc/slider.php";

    Thank you for your reply (and for my other post regarding offset text.)
    I removed this line 90, and it did indeed fix the static text issue.

    However, it created two new issues:

    1 – at the beginning of the slider html it created a new class “slide-inner2” which was a white background and had the text displayed in the top left corner. Once the slide started with the first slide it all worked well, but unfortunately the site always started with this white screen and duplicate text.

    2 – the call to action button was missing.

    As such, I’ve decided to put the site back the way it was, so unfortunately you won’t be able to see it. However, perhaps this is a compatibility issue with the Bistro theme, that I am running? Please could you take a look?

    Hard to say without seeing.

    The thing is that none of the classes you mentioned in this topic and the other (slide-inner2 and flex-viewport) aren’t defined by Sydney or Bistro. So I’m not sure where they come from but I assume that’s what messes things up.

    Maybe you have a slider plugin installed that uses the same JS script?
