    Hello all,

I can’t seem to get my www. domain to point to my non www. domain. I have tried .htaccess rewrites, Forwarding on my domain host (Google Domains) with permanent redirects, Forwarding with my wordpress host (Siteground) with permanent redirects and even tested if it was a plugin interfering by renaming the plugins folder. All to no avail. I’m guessing it will be something really simple but I cant seem to figure it out. Do permanent redirects take affect immediately?

Do I just need to be more patient? I’d appreciate any advice at all on this. If there are any other key details I’m leaving out let me know. The website is on a maintenance mode at the moment as I haven’t launched it yet.

    Thanks in advance!

    Andrew

YOu should not be forwarding WWW. Either make WWW a CNAME for your domain or assign it the same IP address, as an A record, as the domain itself. You should not set up any redirect.

Unbelievably quick response Steven! You’ve made my day. Was sitting here pulling my hair out. Went onto my Google domains and added a new cname record with ‘*’ as the name and my domain without ‘www’ in the data field and it works a treat. The backend of websites is very confusing for someone like me and you really helped! Thanks again!
