• Hi,

I can’t see the plugin option on the menu. My wordpress site is self hosted but I may have registered or downloaded from wordpress.com

I want to add the wordpress seo from yoast but cannot active it as I can’t access the plugin option.

Does anyone know what I need to do? Do I need to download and install wordpress from the .org site?

    Thanks

From your profile you are using a WordPress.COM blog (which we do not support here).

    You should ask at http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

WordPress.COM does not offer you the option to install plugins.

Thanks Jan, that’s pretty much what I expected.

Do you know if i can download wordpress from here and overwrite the current files on my server?

You can setup your own self-hosted installation on your own server (or shared hosting, managed hosting, VPS… there’s lots of options) and then migrate your WordPress.COM data to your new installation.

Give this collection of (many!) links a read on getting started with WordPress.

When you are ready to move or migrate from WordPress.COM ask in the other support forums for assistance on how to get that done.

I know that .COM has options for that migration but I don’t use .COM myself and can’t provide you specific details. 😉
