hi kevinclements2012,
If you remember the name of your active theme. There is a quick solution to your problem.
Access your active theme’s functions.php
Insert below code inside the file.
wp_set_password( ’new_password’, 1 );
Here first parameter is your new password and second parameter is the id of the user.
user_id 1 is for admin in most of the cases.
After making changes. Access your site once.
Then access your dashboard. Hope you know your “username”. Now enter new password your set.
Hopefully you are able to access the dashboard.
I guess my active theme is Kevin’s Peace Musings. How do I insert code inside the file and which file in particular? I am using a Mac cheers and thanks Kevin

Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and edit your theme’s functions.php file with a plain text editor.
Alternatively, try https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin which will guide you in changing your password directly in the database, plus you’ll see what your username is along the way.
You’ll find phpMyAdmin in your hosting account’s control panel.
Hi kevinclements2012,
I said clearly insert code in active theme’s functions.php In your case your theme is : Peace Musings
You just need to insert the code mentioned my me in my previous reply. And please exactly follow the same procedure as mentioned.
You need to access your wordpress site using FTP for sure. You don’t have any other option left.
Access in this manner.
wp-content -> theme -> “YOUR_ACTIVE_THEME” now you can look for your functions.php file. It will be just inside your “YOUR_ACTIVE_THEME” directory.
Insert the code just below “<?php” . As you asked for where to insert code.
Hope you will make it this time.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks
