Support » Plugin: Custom Sidebars - Dynamic Sidebar Widget Area Manager » Can't replace default sidebar with custom sidebar

    My custom sidebars are no longer working correctly on posts. I tried updating to Custom Sidebar v2.1.0.8, but that version didn’t work at all (couldn’t get to Sidebar Location/Save; couldn’t add a new sidebar). I reverted back to v2.1.0.1.

    In this post, I have chosen to have a right sidebar and in the custom sidebar box, I chose the “blogpost” custom sidebar. But it still reverts to the standard sidebar (twitter feed). I have played around with the sidebar location settings too.

    Have tried clearing and disabling cache too.
    Using Divi theme v2.7.5.

  • Hello hkcurtis,

    I trust you are doing well today!

    I’ve tested the plugin on my sandbox installation and can’t reproduce the same.

    Once I visited your page, there are some JS errors that might be related to the issue you have with the Custom Sidebars plugin.

    Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 ()

    Would you please run a quick check for a conflict with another plugin or theme.

    Deactivate all other plugins and test if the SideBars is working. If everything is well, activate one plugin at a time to find the one that causes this.

    Follow the flowchart from our Getting Support manual:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/using-wpmu-dev/getting-support/

    Let us know how it went!

    Cheers,

    Good morning Nastia. Thanks for your reply.

    I followed your steps above on our test site, deactivating all plug-ins. Even with everything else deactivated, the problem still occurred.

    Any other suggestions?

    I should clarify my problem. If I use the Divi sidebar module, I *can* select one of my custom sidebars and everything seems to work fine. The problem occurs when I change the Divi Post settings from fullwidth to right sidebar and then select the custom sidebar.

    I am having this exact issue with my Divi theme as well. I know it was working in the past and I just happened to notice it today.
    I can use the sidebar in the Divi sidebar module but not directly on a post. It is also not working on my main Blog index page.

    I did some testing in my staging site and with the Custom Sidebar plugin enabled, my sidebars disappear for blog posts and just show a Filter Results in the sidebar.
    I am running WP 4.4.4, Divi Child Theme 2.7.8 (latest at this time) and Custom Sidebars 2.1.0.8 (The latest at this time)

    Hello

    I have tested the Custom Sidebars along with the Divi version: 2.7.5 & 2.7.8 and can’t reproduce the same.

    Created Custom Sidebar, appeared in the blog post. Please see the screenshot:
    http://take.ms/lSCZP

    I’ve added the sidebar, directly inside the post, I have added the sidebar for selected categories and I have added it to view on the posts only.

    Would you please make sure that you inside the “Sidebar location” you have selected the
    – As Sidebar for selected categories
    or
    – As Sidebar for selected Post Types

    Would you please enable WordPress debugging by putting the following to the wp-config.php file:

    define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
    define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
    define ('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

    This way all errors will be saved in the debug.log file inside the /wp-content/ directory. Please post the errors you will see here.

    Kind Regards,
    Nastia
