Can't remove or update Wordfence 5.1.9

    As per topic title
    I get this error each time I tried to update to 5.2.1

    Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wordfence.5.2.1.zip…
    Unpacking the update…
    Installing the latest version…
    Removing the old version of the plugin…
    Plugin update failed.
    An error occurred while updating Wordfence Security: Could not remove the old plugin.

    I’ve tried uploading the zip of Ver 5.2.1 via FTP but that didn’t work
    I’ve tried deleting the Wordfence folder but I get permission denied.
    I can’t change the file permissions either as it says not allowed.
    I decided to rename the Wordfence folder, but that didn’t help with deleting or updating.
    Any thoughts?
