can’t publish my post – no Publish box

I logged in as administrator and wrote a new blog post, but I can’t locate the “Publish” box. I can edit the blog post all I want, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to publish it. The Publish box which should be in a right-hand sidebar, according to the instructions, just isn’t there.
