Support » Networking WordPress » can't properly manage plugins after removing multisite

  • Hi. I removed multisite by following the instructions layed out in several blog posts such as

    The issue:
I can access plugins, but there is no Delete option for any plugin, and there is no Add Plugin menu item.

So it seems my site is a single WP install, no longer multisite, but it is confused and won’t allow me to properly manage plugins.

    Any ideas?

If I don’t come up with a viable solution I guess I can always re-enable multisite just so I can manage plugins.

BTW, I migrated a multisite primary blog over to a single WP install using BackupBuddy.

  • Just to be certain, you’re not trying to delete plugins that are still active, are you? WordPress won’t let you delete plugins until they’ve been deactivated.

Also, you can delete plugins manually through FTP.

Nope, there is no delete link for inactive plugins.

I realize I can delete plugins via ftp or upload plugins via ftp then activate them, but I’m just trying to get normal WP single site functionality working.

Are you trying to delete them from the SITE admin or the NETWORK admin?

There is no Network Admin since I already went through the steps to remove multisite.

At this point I’m inclined to just re-active multisite so I can access plugin management via the dashboard.

It just seems odd that disabling multisite isn’t working the way it should.

Before re-enabling, try turning off all your plugins – especially any in the mu-plugins folder.
