I just had the same problem yesterday on the blog where I work. In their case, the problem was that the blog had been switched to use https, but the wp-config file still showed the blog’s address as http.
Another symptom of this was that I was clearly logged into the admin area, but when viewing the blog’s front-end, there was no admin bar, and it looked like I was not logged in.
Could this be your issue?
You can see what WordPress thinks your site URL is by looking under Settings > General in WP Admin. If it doesn’t match, you’ll need to edit your site wp-config.php file.
I hope this helps!

Hi Lisa,
That is EXACTLY my problem… Any advice on how I edit the wp-config.php file? I am absolutely useless at things like this 🙁
Great to know what the problem is though, so thanks very much!! 🙂

Oh, good, how serendipitous that I’d have the same problem just yesterday!
Do you have access to the WordPress system files on your server? I don’t think there is any way to edit the file through the WP Admin screen. You’d want to change (your blog directory)/wp-admin.php
. Once you have it open, there’s a very obvious place in that file where it lists your site’s URL. You would change that, save the file, and be good to go.
Unfortunately, I can’t tell you how to access that file in the first place because it depends. It might be something that your hosting company can do for you, or tell you how to do for yourself.
Good luck!
Lisa
Ahha, tbh I haven’t a clue if I have access to that or not through my servier but now I know where to look.
Thanks very much indeed, I really appreciate you help 🙂
Enjoy the weekend!
Thanks, same to you! Glad I could help 🙂
