  • When you view a post, or a theme in preview mode , there is another value added to the array, which is preview=true
    your post
    http://fatfightertv.com/blog/?p=6201
    should actually be
    http://fatfightertv.com/blog/?p=6201&preview=true
    when in preview ….
I am not sure as to WHY when ou click the preview button it does not add that value to your link…
Actually, it supposed to work also without that value.
Do you have any plugins installed that are modifying post-type ??

Weird, huh? I have been slowly re-activating all my plug-ins and right now, I have 9 active ones: Akismet, All in One SEO Pack, Better Blogroll, Improve Include Page, Redirection, RSS Feed Signature, Viper’s Video Quicktags, WordPress Database Backup, WP-chgFontSize. Do you think any of these are causing the problem?

Even more frustrating, today it is adding the “preview=true” value, but i am still getting the same error message:

    http://fatfightertv.com/blog/?p=6212&preview=true

    well..
I think it is your permalink structure …
there is some bug in the Worpress core while using pretty permalinks, you need to put a category and tag value (just don´t leave them empty)
I am not sure if this bug was already fixed, and to be honest, today I also encountered problems with pretty permalinks on a site I am doing now.

If you want to confirm, change your permalink structure back to default and try. Somthing tells me the preview will work again (but i might be wrong)

Deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Switch to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

If necessary, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

In MY case it was not a plugin, I have 2 websites with identical plugin and configuration, only different themes (written by me) and different content

One on wp 2.7.1 , the other , just updated to 2.8.4
The one with 2.8.4 does not accept pretty permalinks.

In saharya´s case, It might as well be a plugin, the wp bug described here : http://wordpress.org/support/topic/189058?replies=1
or any maybe a similar problem to mine (2.8.4), which is yet to identify.

Have you tried using the default theme to rule out theme-specific issues? Did you deactivate plugins and/or rename the plugin folder? The very fact that you it’s the 2.8 site that has the problem suggests a theme or plugin issiue.

Thanks, everyone, for your help. I just tried using the default theme and I am having the same problem, so at least now I know it is not a theme problem. I will mess with the plugins later today to see what I can come up with!

Other problems with posting after the 2.8.4 update at this thread http://wordpress.org/support/topic/301868 (I’m one of the posters). Noone’s taken a stab at helping us find a fix for our problems.

I see more and more posts here on the forum stating permalinks problems after 2.8.4 upgrade, and like I said before, even I had some ..
Maybe it is something more serious that needs to be looked at .

I just deactivated ALL my plugins and the problem still persists. I get a 404 error code when I try to preview a post before publishing. Can anyone help please?

    Thanks!
