    Hey all,

I have a small internal site that basically does some analysis of an XML file and creates a second XML file. I need this file to be saved in a folder called ‘reports’ in the websites theme folder, which I can do, but then when I present the user with a like to the newly created file the link does nothing.

I have a feeling that it’s a permissions thing, but I’m lost as to where to look – I use CoreFTP and clicking properties in any directory does not show me the permissions as I’m lead to believe it should.

Any help here would be greatly appciated.

    Thanks.

  • Try setting the permissions of the folder ‘reports’ to 777

Here’s a short tutorial on how to do it with core ftp: http://blog.speedhost.in/how-to-change-file-permissions-using-core-ftp/

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies, but unfortunatly when using CoreFTP I am not shown the permissions in the way described. I’m certainly no expert (else I’d have this probably simple problem sorted already!) but I suspect it is because I am developing on a local machine, so it’s not set up as an FTP server. No XP disc either, as the computers at work come in pre-imaged, so I can’t even install the service!

I do have the security on the folder set to allow users to read and execute files through the normal Windows security options, though not sure if that makes a difference.

    Thanks.

Is the xml file actually being generated and saved?

Yes, and it works absolutly fine when I manually navigate there and open it.

    Thanks.

is this on a live site? can we have a link to the page with the link to the xml file?

Not live, it’s a a test server and will only be for Intranet when finished anyway. Sorry!

hmm, ok url of where the file is and full path to where the file is please. (feel free to mask portions as required, but keep all slashes intact)
