Can’t navigate from main page 404 Error HELP

  • For some reason when I try to navigate from my main index page, whether that’s to view an individual post, category, or archive, I get a 404 error.

    Not Found

The requested URL /category/culture/ was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.0.51 (Fedora) Server at http://www.faithtattooed.com Port 80

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Your .htaccess file is not working properly, so your permalinks are all screwed.

First off, are you sure your server has mod_rewrite running? Have you had ‘pretty’ urls like that work before?

If not, contact your host and ask.

If so try regenerating that file by navigating to WP-Admin > Options > Permalinks. Regenerate your desired URL structure and see if that works.

If it doesn’t, you’ll have to delete your .htaccess file via FTP or similar, and then do the steps as above.

    Hope that helps (and works).

    Thank you!

Regenerating the permalinks solved the problem.

I’ll now know what to do if it every happens again 🙂

    Cheers
