can’t login to own site, can’t comment and admin toolbar missing
-
as the subject says … on the site itself, i can not login except to the admin area and my admin toolbar is gone
i disabled all my plugins, switched to default theme, deleted htaccess and cleared cache, nothing changed the situation
in wp admin i can check the do not be registered to comment in settings>discussion and it seems to want to let me comment, but i do not want that, I want only registered users to be able to comment … going a little crazy, especially since I thought I already posted this for help a while ago but do not see the old post anywhere.
when i leave admin with ‘visit site’ in the top left, or go to my site at all … it appears as though am not logged in, its very frustrating … especially since i bet this is something really stupid and easy to fix
but on site if i try to ‘login’ to comment, it comes back telling me to login to comment HELP
and per wordfence plugin, i am logged in, it sends me email stating a login happened
thoughts of what i can try?

Hi @mrsray,
I understand your problem regarding the login issue, missing admin bar and unable to comment. This might be frustrating, but let’s try to fix this.
Do you remember any updates you’ve performed recently? Have you installed any plugins or changed settings on the existing plugins?
When I encountered this behavior before, it was because of an option from WP Fastest Cache. By any chance, you have this plugin installed as well on your site?
If so, disabling the option “Logged-in User” of WP Fastest Cache will solve this behavior.
They also addressed this issue in one of their articles.
If the above solution does not help, kindly share a screengrab showing the behavior. This will help us to have a more profound understanding of the issue.
Best regards,
RobDo you have any caching/optimization plugins? Try, as a test, disabling them.
i have not installed any cache’ing plugins
What plugins are installed?
wordfence, classic editor and classic widgets and askimet, thats all of them
and under the users, “Show Toolbar when viewing site” is checked off

got it!! in the settings > general
find the ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’ fields.
You need to make sure both of these URLs are exactly the same. … i had one with the www. and one without, once i set them the same it gave me my admin toolbar back and lets me comment logged in YEA!!
thank you for your efforts
