I just installed WordPress using Fantasico from my cpanel. When trying to login to the admin area i received an error that the database needed repair. I added the repair line to the wp-config.php file and tried repairing the database. It said the repairs failed and I received the following errors:

    wp_users: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_users’ doesn’t exist
    wp_usermeta: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_usermeta’ doesn’t exist
    wp_posts: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_posts’ doesn’t exist
    wp_links: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_links’ doesn’t exist
    wp_options: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_options’ doesn’t exist
    wp_postmeta: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_postmeta’ doesn’t exist
    wp_terms: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_terms’ doesn’t exist
    wp_term_taxonomy: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_term_taxonomy’ doesn’t exist
    wp_term_relationships: Table ‘steele_wrdp1.wp_term_relationships’ doesn’t exist

Can someone tell me what’s wrong and how to resolve please?

seems as if you have not installed properly as should have created database and install tables. You can go back to fantastico and remove and reinstall.

I am not sure but try these steps–

    1. Login to your WordPress’s MySQL phpMyAdmin.

    2. In phpMyAdmin, select all tables and “DROP” all them.

    3. When dropped, exit from phpMyAdmin.

    4. Login to your File Managar (WordPress FTP directory).

    5. Delete the “wp-config.php” file.

    6. When deleted, exit file manager.

    7. Create a new MySQL DB with a new user having all priviliges.

    8. Now goto your site.

    9. A WordPress New Installation page will appear.

    10. Click on Continue > Let’s Go!.

    11. Fill in the your MySQL info. (DB name, server etc), and then click Continue.

    12. You’ll get a page like “All right Sparky” written.

    11. Click on Next.

    12. Fill in new admin details.

    13. Click on Complete.

    14. It’s done 🙂

Thanks ashish960! That worked. Obviously there’s a flaw in the fantasico installation as I followed their procedure exactly and still had the issues. Thanks for the help.

Can’t do any admin work after installation of update 3.4.2. I have about 15 wordpress sites and all but three updated okay. Of course, these three are the most important ones. Fuller story: The site is live and available. I am able to log in using the http://www.site/wp-admin page or http://www.site/wp-login.php, but the dashboard will not show up. This is true for both an artisteer themed page and a basic WP 2010 theme. What may be linking them together is a plugin that isn’t compatible with 3.4.2. These three sites have the most plugins.
